basically for SEO purposes, if you have a bunch of spammy sites on the same IP and google decides to ban that IP, you lose your SERPs for all of em...
also, interlinking to sites on the same IP/server can sometimes kill your link juice...

The current atmospheric CO2 level is reportedly 380 ppm. Plant growth slows at 220 ppm and stops at 150 ppm. Most plants grow 2 to 3 times faster in 1200 to 1500 ppm, but the optimum range is 800 to 1000 ppm. This means plants are malnourished under current conditions.
save the plants! do your part to increase atmospheric CO2...
of course, if all of your sites are pure whitehat, with clean natural traffic, and original content, you could in theory get away with having them all on the same IP... I wouldn't recommend it tho...

This doesn't seem to make much sense if you consider the thousands of sites and blogs on virtual servers.
it has to do with your FOOTPRINTS... sites on shared hosting usually have different owners, different content, different link/traffic source, aren't interlinked and have vastly different footprints, also there are spammy sites mixed in with genuine whitehat sites... signal to noise ratio is generally higher...
that's why I recommend that peeps use shared hosting to hide their smaller blackhat sites in the crowd... but if you fill a server with heavily cloaked blackhat sites all on the same IP, you'll be headed for banville...
you don't have to take my word for it... try it yourself... rent a couple of cheap servers and run some tests... the best and fastest way to learn is to do it yourself and see how much you can get away with before getting banned...
